Goldberg (who is also a lawyer) presents an example of the legal liability dermatologists may face by not using available technology in their practices. He tells the story of a doctor in a rural area who has a high-risk patient die from metastatic melanoma. This doctor did not use total body photography, which may have helped detect this disease at an early stage. Was he guilty of malpractice?
